Er zijn diverse consultvormen mogelijk. Welke geschikt is, is afhankelijk van je omstandigheden. Ben je net bevallen, dan spreekt het voor zich dat je de lactatiekundige zorg in je eigen huis ontvangt. Zo’n eerste consult neemt anderhalf à twee uur in beslag. Het kan zijn dat je ook in een later stadium liever thuis wordt geholpen, omdat je je daar het meest op je gemak voelt of omdat het lastig voor je is om naar de praktijk te komen.
Soms kan een vraag telefonisch of per e-mail worden besproken. Het is aan de lactatiekundige om te beslissen of de betreffende situatie dat toelaat. Veel dingen zijn moeilijk te beoordelen als er geen direct contact is. In sommige gevallen lijkt een telefonisch of schriftelijk consult handig of voordelig, maar het kan zijn dat het probleem op die manier niet goed kan worden vastgesteld of zaken over het hoofd worden gezien. In dat geval is een persoonlijk (vervolg)consult nodig.
Voor een goed inzicht in je situatie zal je worden gevraagd een vragenformulier in te vullen. Na afloop van het consult krijg je een consultverslag waarin de besproken punten en de suggesties voor het vervolg voor je op een rijtje worden gezet.
There are several possibilities for consultations. Which of these are most suitable for you, depends on your circumstances. Was the delivery very recent, then lactation services at your bedside are the obvious option. Such a first consultation takes about ninety minutes or two hours. It may be that in a later stage, you still prefer being helped at home, because you are most comfortable there or because it is inconvenient for you to come to the practice.
Sometimes a question can be dealt with on the telephone or through e-mail. It is up to the lactation consultant to decide whether the situation allows for that. Many things are hard to judge without direct contact. A telephone or e-mail consultation may seem practical or cheap under certain circumstances, but maybe the problem cannot be sufficiently determined or issues get overlooked. In that case, a personal (follow up) consultation is necessary.
For a good insight in your situation, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire. After the consultation, you will be provided with a consultation report summing up what was discussed and suggestions for how to continue.

Um Ihre Situation ganzheitlich zu begreifen, werden Sie gebeten werden einen Fragenbogen auszufüllen. Nach der Konsultation bekommen Sie einen Bericht, in dem das, was besprochen und vorgeschlagen wurde, der Reihe nach durchgegangen wird.
